Aspiring attire something akin to the likes of Vivian Westwood and Betsey
Johnson, in essence, Cotton Candie is the current incarnation of a series of creative pursuits in the realm of fashion & costume inspired by the inner world of my dreams and rampant imagination... I began sewing as a child, scribbling on scraps of fabric & cross stitching these drawings into appliqués while my mother sewed elaborate quilts by machine. I was well versed in the techniques & variation found in Amish quilting by age ten, and began modifying outfits a few years later after finding commercial patterns too much work for too little personal expression. As time went on, I found very little clothing that actually fit in any sense and a personal sense of dissatisfaction with societal standards & expectations continued to grow. Over the last decade this pursuit has lead me through some strange corridors and opportune tunnels as well as given me new insights that I'd not otherwise have been able to incorporate if I'd decided to keep this innate talent sidelined rather than choose to follow where it leads me. . |
